Description
We’ve re-engineered a 930 style caliper with specific enhancements for direct fitment to the 911 series and 914. Our 930-ERX calipers are an updated version of the venerable 930 brakes which have long been the benchmark for performance.
Complete brake upgrade packages including these calipers are available here…
The 930 Brake Upgrade
930 brakes have been an awesome upgrade for 911 & 914 cars in terms of thermal capacity and pedal feel. The four piston calipers and massive 32mm front / 28mm rear rotors give incredible stopping power.
In addition to excellent stopping power, they have a period correct retro race look, retain the parking brake functionality for 911, and even fit under many 15 inch wheels. This is why 930 brakes have traditionally been the sought-after upgrade for 911/914 racecars, and high end/high powered street car builds.
However fitting them has traditionally been difficult – requiring custom machining (due to differences in 930/911 caliper bolt spacing), wheel clearance issues, and limited availability.
Our re-engineered 930-ERX type calipers keep everything that’s great while fixing all the issues. And they accept readily-available 930 type pads, rotors, and master cylinders.
Optionally available with lightweight titanium screws.
930-ERX Enhancements over Original 930 Calipers
✓ Direct bolt on 911/914 fitment with no caliper machining required.
✓ Rear calipers available with choice of 3.0 inch bolt spacing for ’69-’89 911/912/914 trailing arms, and 3.5 inch spacing for 930 trailing arms.
✓ Front calipers available with choice of 3.0 inch bolt spacing to mount directly onto most ’65-’75 911/912/914 struts, and 3.5 inch spacing for ’76-‘89 911/930 struts.
✓ Front and rear caliper cooling fins are low profile such that they do not interfere with Fuchs wheel spokes and do not require wheel spacers.
✓ A modern staggered piston design is used for even pad wear on our 930-ERX calipers. Original 930 calipers used same size pistons, which caused pads to wear in a taper.
✓ 1 lbs weight savings with optional lightweight titanium screws.
930-ERX Fitment and Compatibility
STRUTS
930 ERX front calipers are available with choice of fitment for 3.0 or 3.5 inch caliper bolt center spacing enabling fitment on all 911, 912, 914, and 930 models. Be sure to order the calipers with correct bolt hole spacing to match your struts.
The following table is a guideline for fitment but we advise measuring the bolt spacing on your struts to be sure, many cars have non-original struts retrofit.
Front Struts with 3.0 inch caliper bolt center spacing:
• ’65-’75 911, 911T, 912
• ’74-’75 911S prior to Chassis # 911 520 2046
• ’69-’76 914
Front Struts with 3.5 inch caliper bolt center spacing:
• ’69-’73 911S, 911E
• ’75 911S From Chassis # 911 520 2046: Chassis # 911 521 1218
• ’76-‘89 911 all models, 912E
• ’76-’89 930
TRAILING ARMS
930 ERX rear calipers are available with 3.0 bolt spacing for direct fitment to 911, 912, & 914 trailing arms from ’69-’89 including aluminum and steel trailing arms. Aluminum 911 trailing arms require removal of the heat shield mounting ears for fitment of the calipers.
Rear calipers are also available with 3.5 inch bolt spacing for direct fitment to 930 trailing arms.
930 ERX rear calipers do not support 2.25 inch bolt spacing found on ’65-’68 911 and 912. However we have options for these cars, call to discuss.
PADS
Front and rear calipers accept standard 930 brake pads and standard 911 or 914 brake hoses.
HUBS & ROTORS
Rear calipers are compatible with standard 911/914-6 5 lug hubs and 930 rotors part 930-352-046-01, 309x28mm. 914-4 require 5 lug conversion to fit.
Front calipers fit with regular 911/914-6 5 lug hubs and use early type 930 two piece floating rotors with our hat kit #2190005 (floating) or #2190010 (fixed). 914-4 will use the same rotors and hat kit but require 911 5 lug hubs for fitment. Wide ’86-‘89 930 hubs may also be used and need to be paired with matching ’86-‘89 930 fixed rotors. These rotors are 304x32mm.
MASTER CYLINDER
Use standard 930 master cylinder on ’77-’89 911 cars equipped with a brake booster, or our master cylinder kit #2190011 for pre-77 cars with non-boosted brakes and all 914.
