Safari and Deep Snow Suspension Lift and Chassis Bracing Kits

For Porsche 911, 930, & 912

Final vehicle lift is determined by your choice of tires but 3″ of lift is not uncommon with tires to match our suspension lift

Unlike body-on-frame trucks, equipping a uni-body car like the 911 to handle the rigors of trail and off-road driving presents a variety of special considerations. These include not only providing adequate suspension travel and clearance, but also appropriate bracing, support, and geometry correction. We have developed suspension and chassis systems to do exactly that – helping to preserve the integrity of your 911 even when traversing the most demanding of surfaces at speed.

Whether you’re opting for one of our integrated packages or ordering individual components, Elephant Racing is here to provide our world-class engineering to help you explore wherever the road (or rutted path) takes you.

Porsche’s Million Dollar Rock Crawler

Safari 959 Porsche

Porsche’s 959 was conceived as the multi-tool that would dominate Group B rallying, the no-holds-barred series that saw the likes of the Lancia Delta Turbo Integrale, Audi Quattro S1, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and Subaru WRX duke it out for top bragging rights on both tarmac and gravel. To qualify, Porsche had to homologate road cars that would be available for purchase by the general public. There was just one hitch: by the time the car was ready to debut, following a series of high-profile accidents, Group B had been cancelled.

Porsche had the hardware, but needed a venue to race and so the 959 was repurposed to compete – and win – at Paris Dakar. Innovations that enabled it to excel in this environment included not only all wheel drive and twin turbo chargers, since a mainstay of Porsche’s subsequent turbo models, but also its innovative hydraulically height adjustable suspension, strong but light kevlar body panels, and hollow spoke magnesium wheels.

We’ll never know how many titles the 959 could have claimed had Group B lived on, but we do know that the tradition of building Porsches that excelled at speed both on and off road can trace their origins back to Porsche themselves, long before the introduction of its Cayenne and Macan models.

Suspension Geometry Considerations for Lifted Porsches

When adding significant ride height to a 911 the suspension pivot points and corresponding arcs of travel all change as does the response time under both compression and rebound. In order to ensure that your 911 behaves predictably both off road and on, Elephant Racing has taken a systems approach to calibrating our components to react and respond in a manner that mirrors the factor set-up despite the substantial increase in travel.

For example, the rear lower arms on a 911 are engineered for a maximum of X-X” of travel from the factory – more than enough to handle most any road surface undulation, but well short of the angle variations experienced when fording a boulder filled stream as each wheel sits at heights dramatically outside of this envelope. At the same time, a suspension that can accommodate that much additional movement, still needs to perform predictably under steady-state loads – like when loaded up in a high g-force corner on a flat stretch of asphalt without undue pitch and dive.

Our approach to this challenge looked closely at how Porsche themselves have and would do things – including cars like the 959 – to achieve a factory-like implementation to modifying your 911.

Coilover shocks for Porsche 993Our Kit Corrects the Geometry… the Right Way

Just as lowering a car on coil overs changes its handling and braking behavior, raising its center of gravity presents a corollary set of challenges. In order to optimize your 911’s performance both on and off road, even with a substantial increase in ride height, our engineering team calculated the precise load and response characteristics needed to replicate stock response even with substantial variation from stock parameters.
